WINTER BLAHS.....

Living here in Canada is cold sometimes.
Although last winter was unseasonably warm and snow free.
I do not find the winter too inspiring.
In fact, I have painted winter scenes only a few times in my career.
(although when I began this blog - I forgot all about 3 of my winter works)
Ok, so here are those pictures:
This piece is AVAILABLE. It is a 30" x 40", and is painted on board.

SOLD - AND FUNNY!!!

Sold and cold.

One of my tin toys paintings. Long since sold!

One of my first landscapes! This sold pretty fast too!

I have also assembled for you, frozen readers, a few reference photos that I have taken during some of the snowier days up here.
Enjoy these in front of a warm fire with a hot cup of coco! (or Baileys)
See...this one made into a painting.

Frozen trees. Try clicking on this to enlarge it.

I made this into a painting as well (or one taken the same day)

Ice flow at Harbourfront...

At Harbourfront - I painted this one too!

SPOOKY.

Ah, skating. NO THANK YOU.

Pretty. Pretty ^%&ing cold!

Snow on Queen St. in Toronto.

SIGNS AND POSTERS OF DISNEY.....PT4

The continuing saga.....
Ok......so you know how I love Eric Tan's Disney Pixar vintage-y posters.
Well here are a few more.
These are from "Up". I like how they have an old map - kind of feeling to them.
I like the use of a more sepia colour scheme.
Again.....super-retro and GREAT!
These are great colour choices!
Nice composition!!

I love the background on this!

Like old travel posters from the 1920-30's!

Cute. Period.

My least favourite...but still well done!

My favourite. REALLY NICE!!!

Simple...and super effective!

This looks so perfect as an old travel poster.

PURPLES!!

Nice!
What do you think of these?
Do you see why I love them???

MERRY CHRISTMAS: DARKER DAYS

WELL, IT IS CHRISTMAS EVE......I HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GREAT NIGHT.

I hope you have a great day tomorrow. I hope you are not shovelling too much!!
And on Christmas day, try not to think about your pocket book after all the presents are open and the carnage is spread across the floor. Think of how happy everyone is...and then have some rum and  eggnog!!! Merry Christmas faithful readers!!
I figured, there is no better way of celebrating how great our life is today (despite the economy)
than to look back into the past. I found this SUPER INTERESTING article and some spectacular photos. I wanted to share them with you. They are from the Denver Post:

The article is called "Captured: America in Color from 1939-1943".

The images, by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information, are some of the only colour photographs taken of the effects of the Depression on America’s rural and small town populations. The photographs are the property of the Library of Congress and were included in a 2006 exhibit "Bound for Glory: America in Color".
Tell me these are nothing short of stunning.
You can see a bunch more HERE
Such a great composition. I would like to paint this scene!

THIS I HAVE HAVE HAVE to paint!

I love the sign-work in this!

LOVE THE CARNIVAL FREAKSHOW BANNERS!!!!!!!!!!!

HAY!

Small town America looks exactly like small town Canada!

Pretty.

SO GREAT! I neeed to paint this too!!!! NEEEEEEEEEED TO!

Creepy.

The real wild west. So weird to see it in colour, huh?

You know how I love signage!!!

WOW.

I love this one too! Mono-chromatic never looked so good!

Well?
Are they spectacular, like I promised????
What do you think? Please comment.

How do I love you, neon?
Hello friends.
Well, as I work on new drawings, I have very little to show you.
:-(
Sad, I know....BUT to keep you interested.....all 2 of you......I am gonna post some of my FAVOURITE pictures of Neon signs. Some are lit, some not so much. But I love them all the same!
I always take pictures of neon. On vacation, or even at home.
I am not sure what I will do with them, I had painted a few of them already check out my entry
SIGN LANGUAGE PART 1 to see them!
So who knows, these might just be paintings at some time.
What do you think? Should I try painting more of these signs?
And remember, I LOVE LOVE LOVE to hear from you!
